Poland 1995-MW 200 zlotych Fr-163
This specimen was lot 773 in Sincona sale 46 (Zürich, May 2018), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted,
"POLEN, Republik. 200 Zlotych 1995, Warschau. Sehr selten. Nur 500 Exemplare geprägt. Polierte Platte. FDC. (republic of Poland, two hundred zlotych of 1995, Warsaw mint. Very rare. Only 500 pieces struck, Choice Proof.)"
Poland obtained her freedom in the early 1990's with the fall of the Berlin Wall but the new government found the treasury as empty as before. NCLT's ("Non Circulating Legal Tender" coinage) were issued in a bewildering array to help stem the flow. This one honors pianist and composer Frederic Chopin.
Recorded mintage: 500.
Specification: 15.50 g, 0.900 fine gold, this specimen 15.57 g.
