This specimen was lot 1629 in Ponterio sale 173 (New York, January 2013), where it sold for $2,820. The catalog description[1] noted, "POLAND. 3 Grosze, 1753. PCGS MS-63. August III (1733-63). Toned." Elector Frederick August of Saxony was also king of Poland and issues for the two regions bear a strong resemblance. This type is recorded in various subtypes for 1753-56. This piece seems to have been worth about one twenty-fourth of a thaler, tho debasements were so frequent that it's hard to tell.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: billon.
Catalog reference: KM-152.
