This specimen was lot 7100 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2017), where it sold for $129.25. The catalog description[1] noted, "POLAND. 18 Groszy (Tympf or Ort), 1655-AT. Krakow Mint. John II Casimir (1649-68). NGC VF-30. A die variety which does not appear to match any listed issue. Toned, one small edge flaw." This denomination, struck in various styles 1650-86, seems to be unique to Poland. The SCWC notes that it traded for a quarter thaler. This style comes in numerous varieties and assayer's initials, including 1655-MW, 1655-IT, 1655-AT (shown here) and 1655-SCH.
