Poland 1650 18 groszy
This specimen was lot 76131 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice Online Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2025), where it sold for $720. The catalog description[1] noted, "POLAND. 18 Groszy, 1650. Wschowa Mint. John II Casimir Vasa. PCGS AU-53. A lovely example of a very elusive type, with handsome steely brilliance and touches of rainbow color in the protected areas. An impressive example that certainly does not lack for eye appeal." This type was struck at Bydgoszcz and Wschowa 1650-55. Altho this date lacks mintmaster initials, most of the later dates have them. The ox head symbol is the mark of crown treasurer Boguslaw Lesczynski. Four ort made a thaler.
