This specimen was lot 2983 in Goldberg sale 34 (Beverly Hills, February 2006), where it sold for $100. The catalog description[1] noted, "Philippines. Quarto, 1823-F. Bust of Ferdinand VII right. Reverse: Crowned Spanish shield. Fine. Provenance: Purchased from Christensen Dec 1, 1970 #630, $25.00." These coins were minted in Manila under the most primitive conditions and usually look wretched. This specimen is far above average.
