Pfalz 1772-AS thaler Dav-2543
This specimen was lot 5366 in Künker sale 386 (Osnabrück, March 2023), where it sold for €260 (about US$336 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"PFALZ, KURFÜRSTENTUM, Karl Theodor, 1743-1799. Konv.-Taler 1772, Mannheim. Sehr schön. (electorate of the Palatinate, Charles Theodore, 1743-99, convention thaler of 1772, Mannheim mint. Very fine.)"
This type was struck 1771-73 and is fairly common for the locale. The Palatinate and Bavaria were merged when the last elector of Bavaria died in 1777. Most of the Palatinate was occupied and then annexed by France during the Revolution.
