Pfalz 1740 1/4 thaler
This specimen was lot 1106 in Künker sale 293 (Osnabrück, Germany, July 2017), where it sold for €600 (about US$809 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"PFALZ, PFALZ, KURFÜRSTENTUM, Karl Philipp, 1716-1742. 1/4 Reichstaler 1740, Mannheim, auf das Vikariat. Gemeinschaftsprägung mit Karl Albrecht von Bayern. Vorzüglich. (Germany, electorate of the palatinate, Charles Philip, 1716-42, quarter thaler of 1740, Mannheim mint, on his vicariat. Joint issue with Charles Albert of Bavaria. Scarce, attractive example with fine toning, extremely fine.)"
A thaler and half thaler were also issued on this occasion.
