Künker sale 386, lot 6117

This specimen was lot 6117 in Künker sale 386 (Osnabrück, March 2023), where it sold for €550 (about US$711 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"PFALZ, KURFÜRSTENTUM, Ludwig III. 1410-1436. Goldgulden o. J. (1422), Oppenheim. Mit Beizeichen Kreuz, darunter Punkt. GOLD. Min. gewellt, sehr schön. (electorate of the Palatinate, Louis III, 1410-36, undated goldgulden, Oppenheim mint. With cross and dot below. Slightly bent, very fine.)"

Goldgulden were also struck at Bacharach and Heidelberg. The design is similar but the small shields on the reverse are arranged differently. Fr-1973 has three small shields and a rosette; Fr-1974 has four shields.

Specification: 3.50 g, 0.917 fine gold, this specimen 3.31 g.
