This type was issued in various forms since 1991, with this subtype starting in 2001. This denomination has also been used for silver and brass commemoratives. In 1991, the currency was reformed, one nuevo sol = one million intis. Surprisingly enough, the nuevo sol has remained stable against the dollar (US$1 = S/. 2.77, October 2013, US$1 = S/. 3.63, January 2021).
