The specimen shown is one of a series struck 1893-97 at the Lima mint for Peru. There are many varieties and subtypes of this basic design and later issues were emitted in 1914-16. Mintage is unknown, but later dates are common. Assayer F is recorded for 1896 only but is common.
Recorded mintage: 2,511,000 (assayers TF and F).
Specification: 25 g, 0.900 fine silver, 0.7234 troy oz ASW.
