Peru 1835-Cuz B 8 reales
This specimen was lot 1624 in Sedwick sale 12 (Winter Park, FL, October 2012), where it sold for $1,298. The catalog description[1] noted, "Cuzco, Peru, 8 reales, 1835B, encapsulated NGC AU 58, finest known specimen graded by NGC, rare. Lightly toned fields with muted luster, choice quality for this one-year type, in fact 2 grades higher than second best in the census (including the Millennia specimen) at AU 53." This type was struck at Lima 1825-28 and at Cuzco 1826-29 and is rather common; the complete span of Peru standing liberty eight reales runs 1825-55. Assayer B is recorded for the Cuzco mint 1830-35. The issues of 1834-35 from Cuzco are scarce.
