Peru 1829-Cuz G 1/2 real

Half reales were struck at the Cuzco mint in 1829, while the republic was still intact. There is one overdate known for this year, that of 1829/8. In this year the mint name was written with some of the letters overlapping. The Cuzco mint operated intermittently through its history but was busiest in the 1820's and 1830's. The first coin was lot 26098 in Heritage sale 3014 (Chicago, April 2011), where it sold for $184. The catalog description reads: "Republic 1/2 Real 1829-G Cuzco, AU55 ANACS, softly struck centers. CUZ in monogram. From The Dana Roberts Collection."
