The first specimen was lot 1813 in Sedwick Treasure Auction 28 (Winter Park, FL, November 2020), where it sold for $168. The catalog description[1] noted, "Lima, Peru, 1/4 real, 1823, struck about 15% off-center in error. Semi-lustrous XF+ with dramatic striking error, believed to be a Republic issue with colonial design." Cuartillas were struck in Lima starting in 1796. The SCWC divides the issues of Charles IV (KM 102) from those of Ferdinand VII (KM 108) even tho the ruler's name is not marked on the coin.

Specification: 0.84 g, 0.896 fine silver, .024 troy oz ASW, the first specimen 0.87 gram.
