This coin was minted in Lima, Peru, of a type struck 1812-13. A large bust obverse is also known for 1812; it is rather scarcer. The first specimen was lot 195 in Sedwick Treasure Auction 21 (Winter Park, FL, May 2017), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "Lima, Peru, bust 4 escudos, Ferdinand VII (small, draped bust), 1813JP, encapsulated NGC AU 50. Scarce two-year type with small bust, light toning, choice luster on reverse, no flaws or defects."

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 13.53 g, 0.875 fine gold, .380 troy oz AGW.
