This specimen was lot 7319 in Ponterio sale 152 (New York, January 2010), where it sold for $690. The catalog description[1] noted, "PERU. Escudo, 1778-MJ. RARE type. NGC XF-45." While eight escudos from Peru are reasonably available albeit expensive, the smaller gold denominations are all very scarce. The SCWC prices this type very low, but specialists know better.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: 3.38 g, 0.901 fine gold, .098 troy oz AGW.
