This specimen was of lot 24503 in Heritage sale 3020 (Long Beach, September 2012), where it sold for $3,525. The catalog description[1] noted, "Ferdinand VI gold 8 Escudos 1755-JM, AU55 NGC, exceptionally bold design details with natural patina and considerable mint luster, just a couple of tiny marks in the left obverse field. Rare and desirable early type in this superior quality." This type is recorded for 1754-56 and is scarcer than the preceding type with the full-wigged bust of the king (KM 50). A slightly modified bust (KM 59.2) was used 1757-60.
