This specimen was lot 656 in Sedwick Treasure Auction 39 (Winter Park, FL, May 2026), where it sold for $840. The catalog description[1] noted, "PERU, Lima, cob 8 reales, 1691 R, quatrefoil at top, ex-Ugaz. Well-centered full pillars-and-waves, nearly full cross-lions-castles, two bold dates, contrastingly toned VF+ with some peripheral tooling. Pedigreed to the Jorge Ugaz Collection." This type was the first eight reales issued by the Lima mint after it reopened in 1684. It was struck until 1701 for Charles II. Assayer de Rojas stamped his coins 1685-91 and again in 1695.
