This specimen was lot 723 in Sedwick Treasure Auction 39 (Winter Park, FL, May 2026), where it sold for $900. The catalog description[1] noted, "PERU, Lima, cob 1 real, 1684 V, ex-Ugaz. Very choice strike with 100% full interior details, the cross off-center but overall rather Royal-like, AXF with deeply contrasting toning. Pedigreed to the Jorge Ugaz Collection." The regime in Madrid finally permitted the viceroy in Lima to reopen the mint in 1684. This type was struck 1684-1701 for the degenerate Charles II. Assayer V is listed for 1684 and 1689-93.
