This specimen was lot 1611 in Künker sale 403 (Osnabrück, March 2024), where it sold for €2,800 (about US$3,674 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"Pius VI. 1775-1799. Doppia romana 1783, Rom. Mit Wappen des Presidente della zecca, Monsieur Giuseppe Vai, auf der Rückseite. GOLD. Selten in dieser Erhaltung. Vorzüglich-Stempelglanz. Exemplar der Spezialsammlung Münzen und Medaillen der Päpste, Auktion Fritz Rudolf Künker 233, Osnabrück 2013, Nr. 1917. (Papal States, Pius VI, 1775-99, doppia of 1783, Rome mint, with the mintmaster's arms on the reverse. Rare in this quality, extremely fine to uncirculated.)"
This type was issued 1776-85 and is not rare in circulated condition. Ten paoli made a scudo Romano and thirty paoli made a doppia.
