This specimen was lot 1499 in Sincona sale 73 (Zürich, November 2021), where it sold for 1,300 CHF (about US$1,673 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"ITALY | Vatican - Church State. Pius VI. 1775-1799. 2 Doppie 1777, Roma. Selten. Sehr schön. Randfehler. (Italy, Papal States, Pius VI, 1775-99, double doppia of 1777, Rome mint. Rare, Very fine, Edge flaw.)"
The due doppie (formerly the quadrupla) was struck at Rome this year only and is scarce. It had a face value of sixty paoli. The Bologna mint struck this denomination starting in 1778.
