Stephen Album sale 38, lot 3508
Italy SA38-3508r.jpg

This specimen was lot 3508 in Stephen Album sale 38 (Santa Rosa, CA, September 2020), where it sold for $71.40. The catalog description[1] noted, "PAPAL STATES: Benedict XIV, 1740-1758, AE baiocco, Ferrara, 1746-VI, choice VF." The SCWC marks this as a separate variety from KM-136, struck at Ferrara 1744-51. Berman merges this issue with that of 1744 and 1745. Each year saw a slightly different cartouche. After 1740, five quattrini = one baiocco; 100 baiocchi = one scudo.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: copper.

Catalog reference: KM-142, Ber-2816.
