Sincona sale 46, lot 637

This specimen was lot 637 in Sincona sale 46 (Zürich, May 2018), where it sold for 300 CHF (about US$360 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"ITALIEN, Vatikan - Kirchenstaat, Benedikt XIV. 1740-1758. 1/2 Zecchino 1746, Rom. Sehr schön. (Papal States, Benedict XIV, 1740-58, half zecchino of 1746, Rome mint. Very fine.)"

This type is listed for 1740-56. It is the only half ducat of the eighteenth century to be somewhat available.

Specification: 1.73 g, .998 fine gold, this specimen 1.65 g.
