from Steve Album sale 45, lot 2774

This specimen was lot 2774 in Stephen Album sale 45 (Santa Rosa, CA, January 2023), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "PAPAL STATES: Benedict XIV, 1740-1758, AR ½ baiocco, 1742 year II, an attractive mint state example, PCGS graded MS61 BN, ex Joe Sedillot Collection." This type was struck 1742 only. Another mezzo baiocco, with the value inside a wreath, was struck 1740-42, 1751 and 1755. One hundred baiocchi = one scudo.
