The SCWC lists only one mezzo baiocco struck at Rome in 1740, that issued for Benedict XIV (r. 1740-58). This one was issued for Clement XII and others exist marked sede vacante (copper coinage was not usually issued during a sede vacante). We have attributed it to KM 885 even tho SCWC does not list 1740 for the type. Berman mentions a mezzo baiocco for 1740 with a laurel wreath reverse (2783) and a mezzo baiocco for 1741-42 with a cartouche reverse (2784); we have attributed this coin to the latter.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: 5.2 g, copper.
