This type is listed in the SCWC for 1739 on the death of Clement XIII (1730-40). Four other grossi were issued in 1740 (KM 928, KM 926, KM 927, KM 806). Berman mentions two grossi for the sede vacante; this one (Ber-2719) and one with clouds added below the dove on the reverse (Ber-2720). Both are scarce. The grosso was five baiocchi or one twentieth of a scudo. Many varieties were issued in the 1740's.

Recorded mintage: unknown but scarce.

Specification: 1.34 g, 0.917 fine silver, 19 mm diameter, reeded edge.
