Sincona sale 80, lot 2833

This specimen was lot 2833 in Sincona sale 80 (Zürich, October 2022), where it sold for 100 CHF (about US$120 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"ITALY | Vatican - Church State, Alexander VII. 1655-1667. Grosso o. J. Roma. Fast vorzüglich. Feine Patina. (Papal States, Alexander VII, 1655-67, undated grosso, Rome mint. About extremely fine, Nicely toned.)"

This is one of several grossi using this motto. This one is distinguished by not having the motto placed on a shield or cartouche. It is fairly scarce.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 1.57 g, 0.917 fine silver. This specimen is 1.60 g.
