SB825-42417r.jpg

This specimen was lot 42417 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Oklahoma City, OK, August 2025), where it sold for $1,080. The catalog description[1] noted, "ITALY. Papal (States of the Church). Testone, Year VII (1629/30). Rome Mint. Urban VIII. NGC MS-62. Seemingly a bit conservatively assessed given the overall strength of the strike, especially within the countenances of Saints Peter and Paul, this minor undoubtedly impresses with gunmetal gray toning and some dazzling brilliance evident among the protected areas." This testone was struck years I thru VII, and is a better type. A testone was three giulii.

Recorded Mintage: unknown.

Specification: 9.59 g, 0.917 fine silver, this specimen 9.56 g.
