Sincona sale 26, lot 3515

This specimen was lot 3515 in Sincona sale 26 (Zürich, October 2015), where it sold for 500 CHF (about US$618 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"Dukat o. J. (1591). Ungarischer Typ. Gutes sehr schön. (Netherlands, province of Overijssel, undated ducat of the Hungarian type. Good very fine.)"

Overijssel went on to issue many coins as part of the independent Netherlands until the time of Napoleon. We follow Friedberg in attributing this coin to 1579, not 1591.

Reported Mintage: unknown.

Specification: 3.5 g, 0.986 fine gold, this specimen 3.49 g.

Catalog reference: Delmonte 1049. Fr-266.
