Sincona sale 101, lot 3528

This specimen was lot 3528 in Sincona Auction 101 (Zürich, October 2025), where it sold for 2,750 CHF (about US$4,145 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"RDR / ÖSTERREICH Olmütz, Bistum, Jakob Ernst Graf von Liechtenstein-Castelcorn, 1738-1745. 1/2 Taler 1740, Kremsier. Selten. Gutes vorzüglich. Minimaler Kratzer auf Avers. (Austria, bishopric of Olmütz, Jakob Ernst Graf von Liechtenstein-Castelcorn, 1738-45, half thaler of 1740, Kremsier mint. Rare, About Uncirculated, Minimal scratch on obverse.)"

This type was struck 1739, 1740 and 1742 and is scarce. A similar thaler (Olmutz 1741 thaler Dav-1228|Dav-1228]]) also exists. This example realized eight times the catalog value.
