Olmutz (1624) thaler Dav-3466
This specimen was lot 4936 in Künker sale 441 (Osnabrück, March 2026), where it sold for €24,000 (about US$33,017 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"DIE GEISTLICHKEIT IN DEN HABSBURGISCHEN ERBLANDEN, OLMÜTZ, BISTUM, SEIT 1777 ERZBISTUM Franz von Dietrichstein, 1599-1624-1636. Reichstaler o. J. (1624). Von großer Seltenheit. Hübsche Patina, kl. Schrötlingsfehler, sehr schön. Exemplar der Sammlung Münzen und Medaillen aus adeligem Privatbesitz (bishopric of Olmütz, Francis of Dietrichstein, 1624-36, undated thaler, circa 1624. Extremely rare, handsome patina, planchet defects, very fine.)"
This one-year type is among the scarcer issues from this ecclesiastical state in Moravia, then part of Austria, now the Czech Republic. Later thalers from the 1720's are listed quite inexpensively.
