Oldenburg 1869 3 schwaren rev DSLR.JPG

This type was struck for the grand duke of Oldenburg 1858-65, 1868-69. Despite the modest mintage, it is common in all grades. The grand duke of Oldenburg survived the Napoleonic mediatization and the Prussian annexations to issue coinage during the Wilhelmine empire. However, his state on the North Sea remained windswept and impoverished and his coinage is scanty.

Recorded mintage: 96,000.

Specification: copper.

Catalog reference: KM 191.
