Künker sale 386, lot 5351

This specimen was lot 5351 in Künker sale 386 (Osnabrück, March 2023), where it sold for €1,100 (about US$1,422 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"NÜRNBERG, STADT, 20 Kreuzer 1761, mit Titel von Franz I. Selten in dieser Erhaltung. Prachtexemplar. Fast Stempelglanz. (city of Nuremberg, twenty kreuzer of 1761, struck in the name of Francis I. Scarce in this quality, about uncirculated.)"

This example of a one year type realized over nine times the catalog value. The last 20 kreuzer struck in Nurnberg is dated 1774. Twenty kreuzer made one-sixth of a thaler.
