This specimen was lot 26848 in Heritage sale 3024 (Chicago, April 2013), where it sold for $282. The catalog description[1] noted, "Nurnberg. Franz I Taler 1761-SF, AU Details - Tooled, deeply toned and sharply defined with ancient tooling on both the obverse and reverse that becomes evident when inspected with a loupe." While most Nurnberg thalers are scarce, this one is somewhat available. The city was mediatized by Napoleon in 1806 and handed over to Bavaria.
