Goldberg sale 75, lot 4456

In 1907, Norway obtained a divorce from Sweden and became an independent kingdom under a Danish prince. Even before passing under Swedish rule in 1814, Norway had enjoyed a separate coinage from Denmark. The specimen shown here is from of a type struck 1877-1904 and was accompanied by a silver fifty øre and one krone of similar design. Many dates are very scarce. This specimen was lot 4456 in Goldberg sale 75 (Los Angeles, September 2013), where it sold for $1,840. The catalog description^[1] noted, "Norway. 2 Kroner, 1888. Oscar II. Rarest date of series. Very Rare. NGC graded VF-25."
