This specimen was lot 758 in Classical Numismatic Group's sale of the Lissner Collection (Chicago, August 2014), where it sold for $16,940. The catalog description[1] noted, "NORWAY. Karl IV. 1859-1872. AR 12 Skilling. Kongsberg mint. Dated 1861. In NGC encapsulation graded MS 63. Choice uncirculated, though this cataloger believes the coin to be a proof or specimen. Purchased from Louis Collins, March 1973. Louis was one of our most prominent numismatists; he is now retired and racing speed boats." This two year type is near the end of a denomination first issued in 1819. It was worth one tenth of a specie daler. This specimen sold for five times the catalog value.
