This specimen was lot 30898 in Heritage sale 3029 (New York, January 2014), where it sold for $1,116.25. The catalog description[1] noted, "Carl XIV Johan of Sweden Speciedaler 1844, XF40 NGC. Nice details, with attractive blue and steel-gray toning. One notable scratch appears on the obverse below the bust." This type, recorded for 1844 only, is now scarce. It was struck to the Danish standard (Dav-75) rather than the larger Swedish riksdaler (Dav-356).

Recorded mintage: 302,000.

Specification: 28.89 g, 0.875 fine silver, .812 troy oz ASW.
