This specimen was lot 25225 in Heritage sale 3019 (Chicago, April 2012), where it sold for $1,150. The catalog description[1] noted, "Carl XIV Johan of Sweden Specie Daler 1835 No Star, XF45 NGC, nicely toned and original with well-struck details. Very scarce and always in demand." Norway passed from Danish to Swedish rule in 1814. This type was issued by Sweden for Norway 1826-36. Most dates are rare; this one is only scarce.
Recorded mintage: 40,000 (with and without star).
