This specimen was lot 31686 in Heritage sale 3029 (New York, January 2014), where it sold for $528.75. The catalog description[1] noted, "Carl XIV Johann 1/2 Skilling 1839, MS64 Red Brown NGC. An attractive copper type with deep brown surfaces and subtle red-orange luster. Very scarce in Mint State." Norway passed from Danish to Swedish rule in 1814. This type was issued by Sweden for Norway 1839-41. In Norway, prior to the decimal reform of 1873, 120 skilling = one specie daler.

Recorded mintage: 613,000.
