This specimen was lot 31687 in Heritage sale 3029 (New York, January 2014), where it sold for $646.25. The catalog description[1] noted, "Carl XIV Johann 4 Skilling 1842, MS64 NGC. Fully lustrous with original toning. Mint State examples of this billon series are highly elusive!" Norway passed from Danish to Swedish rule in 1814. This type was issued by Sweden for Norway 1842 only. In Norway, prior to the decimal reform of 1873, 120 skilling = one specie daler.
