This specimen was lot 1378 in Stephen Album sale 30 (Santa Rosa, CA, January 2018), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "NORWAY: Christian VII, 1766-1808, AR 2 skilling, Altona, 1803, mintmaster IGM, EF-AU." This type of 1800-07 is common in circulated condition. As punishment for supporting Napoleon, the king of Denmark was forced to cede Norway to Sweden in 1814 at the Congress of Vienna. After a stormy marriage, Norway obtained a divorce from Sweden in 1907 and has been independent since.

Recorded mintage: 5,453,000.
