This specimen was lot 24588 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2018), where it sold for $144. The catalog description[1] noted, "NORWAY. 2 Skilling, 1786-HIAB. Christian VII (1766-1808). PCGS MS-62 Secure Holder. Good strike, nicely toned and attractive." Altho the Danish monarchy minted this denomination for Norway throughout the eighteenth century, this type of 1778-88 is by far the most common. It was accompanied by billon one skilling (KM 258), four skilling (KM 256a) and eight skilling (KM 257).

Recorded mintage: 6,341,000.

Specification: 1.18 g, .344 fine silver, 17.3 mm diameter.
