Stack's Bowers 2015 NYINC sale, lot 4168
Norway Stacks Jan15-4168r.jpg

This specimen was lot 4168 in Stack's-Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2015), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "NORWAY. 8 Skilling, 1714-DMA. Frederick IV (1699-1730). NGC AU-58. Lightly toned." This type is listed for 1702-15 and, like most Norwegian coins of the eighteenth century, it is probably scarcer than the modest catalog values would indicate. One speciedaler was 96 skilling. Norway passed from Danish to Swedish rule in 1814.

Recorded mintage: 923,000.

Specification: 2.29 g, 0.750 fine silver.

Catalog reference: KM-209; Sieg-3.2; ABH-35.
