This specimen was lot 74154 in Stack's Bowers May 2026 World Premier Collectors Choice Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, May 2026), where it sold for $195.20. The catalog description[1] noted, "CANADA. Newfoundland. 5 Cents, 1929. Ottawa Mint. George V. PCGS MS-63." This specimen is a fairly common date of a type struck in Ottawa, Canada, for the colony of Newfoundland in 1912, 1917, 1919 and 1929. Canada debased her five cent pieces from 0.925 to 0.800 fine silver in 1920 but Newfoundland did not follow suit until 1944. Newfoundland was admitted into the Dominion of Canada in 1949 and her separate coinage ceased.
