This specimen was lot 3213 in Steve Album Auction 55 (Santa Rosa, CA, May 2026), where it sold for $264. The catalog description[1] noted, "NEWFOUNDLAND: Victoria, 1837-1901, AE cent, 1890, PCGS graded MS63 BN." This type was struck for Newfoundland 1865, 1872-76, 1880, 1885, 1888-90, 1894-96. The 1872-H and 1876-H came from Heaton. It is rather low priced in circulated condition but rare in high grade. The smallness and poverty of the colony kept mintages low. Newfoundland was admitted into the Dominion of Canada in 1949 and her separate coinage ceased.
Recorded mintage: 200,000, a fairly common date.
