This specimen was lot 20825 in Heritage sale 3008 (New York, January 2010), where it sold for $3450. The catalog description[1] noted, "New Brunswick. Victoria Specimen Half Cent 1861, Specimen 65 Brown PCGS. Chocolate-brown color with sharp strike and no significant imperfections. No examples have been certified finer by PCGS (2/0)." Prior to confederation with Canada in 1867, the province of New Brunswick issued half, one, five, ten and twenty cent pieces during 1861-64. The half cent, issued 1861 only, is the scarcest denomination.
