Neuchatel 1790 1/2 kreuzer
This specimen was lot 3940 in Künker sale 353 (Osnabrück, Germany, September 2021), where it sold for €120 (about US$167 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"BRANDENBURG-PREUSSEN, PREUSSEN, KÖNIGREICH, Friedrich Wilhelm II. 1786-1797. 1/2 Kreuzer 1790, Neuenburg (Neuchâtel). Prägung für das Fürstentum Neuenburg. Vorzüglich. Exemplar der Auktion UBS 53, Basel 2002, Nr. 620. (Germany, kingdom of Prussia, Frederick William II, 1786-97, half kreuzer of 1790, Neuchatel mint, struck for the principality of Neuchatel. Extremely fine.)"
This type, unlike most issues from this small part of Switzerland, is common. It was struck in 1789-96 altho the dates 1793-96 are rare. One batzen = four kreuzer. The reverse motto, "᛭ SUUM ᛭ 1790 ᛭ CUIQUE ᛭", translates as, "To each his own".
