Netherlands East Indies 1806 1/2 duit
This specimen was lot 71801 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, October 2021), where it sold for $156. The catalog description[1] noted, "NETHERLANDS EAST INDIES. Batavian Republic. 1/2 Duit, 1806. PCGS MS-63 Brown. A presentable example of the type with warm brown patina and some mint red remaining in the protected areas." This type was struck 1802-09 and is listed as inexpensive. The Dutch hold on the East Indies at this point was weak and the British captured Batavia more than once during the Napoleonic Wars. Dutch control was restored at the Congress of Vienna and was steadily expanded to include all of what is now Indonesia.
