The first specimen was lot 24385 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (Newport Beach, CA, January 2021), where it sold for $65. The catalog description[1] noted, "NETHERLANDS. Cent, 1967. Utrecht Mint; privy mark: fish. PCGS PROOF-63 Red Brown Gold Shield. A choice overall proof issue with some mottled red-brown color." Queen Wilhelmina abdicated in 1948 in protest of Dutch colonial policy in Indonesia in favor of her daughter, Juliana, who would rule until 1980. New coin types were therefore necessary and were introduced in 1950. This bronze cent was struck without change until 1980. No dates are rare.
Recorded mintage: 140,000,000 plus proofs.
Specification: 2 g, bronze, 17 mm diameter, plain edge.
