New coin types were therefore necessary and were introduced in 1950. This bronze cent was struck without change until 1980. No dates are rare. Large and small date varieties exist for 1966.

Recorded mintage: 104,000,000 plus proofs.

Specification: 2 g, bronze, 17 mm diameter, plain edge.
