Jean Elsen sale 123, lot 1360
Neth JE 123-1360r.jpg

The specimen is a common date of a type struck at the Utrecht mint for the Netherlands 1929-40. Most of the dates are common but 1932 (shown here) and 1938 have a "deep hair line" variety which is rare. The bust of Wilhelmina (r. 1890-1948) shown here first appeared on the ½ gulden of 1921 and was used until the end of WW II. This specimen was lot 1360 in Jean Elsen sale 123 (Brussels, December 2014), where it sold for €140 (about US$203 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"NEDERLAND, Koninkrijk, Wilhelmina (1890-1948), AR 2 1/2 gulden, 1932, Grof haar. Zeldzaam. Krasjes. Zeer Fraai à Prachtig. (kingdom of the Netherlands, Wilhelmina (1890-1948), silver 2½ gulden of 1932, deep hair, scarce, scratches, very fine to extremely fine.)"

Recorded mintage: 3,560,000.
